Texas Responsible Energy & Efficiency (TREE) of Tyler, TX offers solar and geothermal energy products and services to all of Texas. We offer sales and installation of a variety of renewable energy products for your home and business. Just as importantly, we offer you honest answers. It’s our mission to educate the public as well as sell our products, and we’ll do our best to match your needs with the product that best fits your geographic setting and budget.
Many state and federal tax rebates and incentives are available for renewable energy products. To check, go to www.dsireusa.org.
Our solar power system customers are also eligible for a tax credit equal to 30 percent of the cost of residential and nonresidential solar electricity installations. In addition, the federal Investment Tax Credit can be applied against the Alternative Minimum Tax.
Our Renewable Energy Products Include:
Solar Hot Water Systems by SunEarth Inc. and Velux
According to the Environmental and Energy Study Institute, the installation of a solar water heater can save enough in electricity or natural gas to pay for itself in four to eight years. In fact, solar water heating is the most cost-effective way to save money and reduce your annual carbon emissions. Solar hot water systems include storage tanks and solar collectors. TREE sells and installs both passive and active systems.
PV Arrays for Your Home and Business by Solar World
TREE is your one-stop shop for the sales and installation of PV arrays. A PV (photovoltaic) array is a collection of solar modules which collects energy from the sun and directs it to an electrical system. The electric current leaving the array is DC and, in most applications, must be converted into AC through the use of an inverter. A solar array can bring power to your home in the form of clean, renewable energy. Solar batteries can also be charged for times when more electricity is needed than the solar array can produce (such as at night).
Solar-Powered Ventilation by Attic Breeze
TREE sells and installs attic fans which can help reduce your electric bill by removing hot air from your attic using only solar power. The solar-powered attic fan we offer reduces the air temperature inside your attic to within 5 to 10 degrees above the ambient outside temperature – meaning heat transfer from attic insulation to your living space is significantly reduced. A cooler attic means your AC won’t need to work as hard.
LED Lighting by Cree Lighting
TREE sells and installs LED light bulbs that last more than 20 years under normal use … AND provide warm, beautiful light. Our LED lights use 85 percent less energy than conventional incandescent bulbs and less than half that of a comparable fluorescent. Our bulbs also contain no harmful mercury.
Radiant Barriers by Innovative Insulation
Radiant barriers are typically used in attics to reduce summer heat gain and, to a lesser degree, winter heat loss. The barriers consist of a highly reflective material that reflects radiant heat rather than absorbing it. There are a variety of ways to install the barriers – either on top of existing attic insulation, to the bottom surfaces of the attic truss chords or rafter framing, draped over the tops of the rafters before the roof deck is applied or attached directly to the underside of the roof deck. Studies show that installation of radiant barriers typically saves between 8 and 12 percent on annual cooling costs.
Geothermal Heating and cooling by ClimateMaster and WaterFurnace
TREE can help you tap the energy beneath your feet to heat and cool your home or business. Geothermal heat pumps create heat in the winter by using a closed water loop to circulate radiant heat trapped at a constant temperature just a few feet down in the earth. The heat is extracted from the water using a heat exchanger where the temperature is “compressed” until it’s a few degrees warmer and then distributed through the house or building. Existing heating/cooling systems can be modified to work with the geothermal system. In hot weather, the system works in reverse. Because geothermal moves energy stored in the ground, it operates at about 400 percent efficiency, which means it delivers about four times as much heating and cooling energy as it consumes. That kind of efficiency pays for itself in a few years.
Skylights/Tubular Skylights by Velux
TREE sells and installs a variety of weathertight, energy efficient skylights. Flashing kits – not caulking or other sealants – remove any chance of leaking. Our line of skylights ranges from fixed to electric venting to tubular. Tubular skylights bring sunlight down through your attic and into the room of your choice. We also offer a variety of shades for your skylights, such as cellular, which diffuses the light; Venetian blinds, which can be adjusted for the amount of light you want; lightblock shades; and an exterior open/close heatblock awning.
Wind Turbines by Skystream, Bergey Windpower, and Proven Energy
A wind turbine collects kinetic energy from the wind and converts it to electricity that is compatible with the electrical system of a home or business. In a normal residential application, a home is served simultaneously by the wind turbine and a local utility. Wind speeds below 7 to 10 mph are not adequate to generate power from the turbine. As wind speeds increase, turbine output increases and the amount of power purchased from the utility is proportionately decreased. When the turbine produces more power than the house needs, the utility credits your account with them.
Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) by IntegraSpec
ICF is an innovative building system that builds stronger, safer, quieter, energy efficient and environmentally friendlier homes and structures. IntegraSpec is "The User Friendly ICF"®. It consists of two panels of expanded polystyrene (EPS) married with high impact polystyrene inserts used to hold patented webs/spacers. These are designed to secure rebar as needed. Once stacked together, these forms represent a mold ready for concrete placement, similar to a traditionally poured concrete wall
Our warranties vary from product to product but most solar water heaters carry a manufacturer’s warranty of ten years. PV electric products are usually 10 years or more on all components and Velux products are 5 years on workmanship and 20 years on product.
